A Holistic Approach To Treatment

Why meditation is needed ?

Holistic ChoiceMeditation is a training of the mind that enables better performance, more concentration and a peace of mind. While engaging in a particular meditation practice, you get to have a better understanding of your mind  and how it works. Decades ago, meditation was thought to be exclusive to certain people. Nowadays, its practice is accessible to everyone. It has become more common among people that deal with a lot of stress in their lives. Successful people all around the world recommend practicing it.

Benefits of meditation :

Improves breathing and heart rates
More longevity
Helps prevent Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and HIV
Lessens premenstrual and menopausal syndrome
Lessens heart and brain problems
Reduces blood pressure

If you're still not convinced, here are some very successful people who meditate every day :

Oprah Winfrey : She as said that she sits in stillness for 20 minutes, twice a day. She's also brought in TM teachers for employees at Harpo Productions, who want to learn how to meditate

Larry Brilliant, former director of google.org : He spent two years during his twenties living in a Himalayan ashram and meditating.

Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief. Huffington Post Media Group : She describes early morning yoga and mediation as two of her “joy triggers”.

Jennifer Aniston, Russel brand, Cameron Diaz, Clint Eastwood and many others have claimed they use meditation in their daily lives. So why wouldn't you?

There are many meditation methods, Mindfulness, Transcendental Meditation, Guided Visualization, Qi Gong, Kundalini Mediation etc... If you are wondering what is the best way to meditate, or what are the best meditation techniques, here is my answer to you : they are all the same. The effectiveness of these methods don't depend on the methods themselves, but on how often you apply them in your daily routine.

Here are some tips that will help you with your meditation :

Make sure you have a good posture. It doesn't matter whether you are sitting on a chair or on the floor, just make sure your spine is upright with head up.

When you are first starting out, do it for two minutes. If that goes well, do it for four minutes. Add two minutes every week. You'll find yourself meditating for 30 minutes after 4 months.
Pay attention to your breath. Focusing on your breath will help you focus on the present.
Open your eyes. Even though some people find closing their eyes more effective, I think closing your eyes will make you drift away and lose focus. Opening your eyes allows you to be more present.

Meditate early in the morning. Let it be the first thing you do everyday. This way you don't forget to do it and it will boost your productivity for the day.

Meditation has many benefits. Although it seems easy, it is not. It requires focus and willpower. You can start today, and continue for the rest of your life.
